How to create an Exchange resource for meetings

  • Create a new user in active directory with an exchange mailbox.
  • Logon to outlook with the newly created account.
  • Open Tools -> Options
  • Click the Calendar options
  • Click the Resource Scheduling
  • Only have the first 2 checkboxes selected, 1)Automatically accept meeting requests and process canellations. 2) Automatically decline conflicting meeting requests.
  • When a dialog box for set permissions for offline use appears, ensure that box is checked titled “set standard resource permissions for all users.” This lets all users book/view appointments but only change/remove the ones they’ve created

When scheduling the resource, treat it as an attendee and invite it as a resource.
