How to remove Spyware
There are dozens of ways your machines can get infected by spyware, bogging down your machine tremendously. There are even ones that will hijack your browser, prevent you from going to certain sites such as anti-spyware sites, or redirect any links you click to a particular page. The trickiest ones to new users are those fake pop ups that state your machine is infected and can only be removed by purchasing “AWESOME ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE” or enter a name there.
So what do you do when you get infected? Here are a few tools that I’ve used in the past to get rid of the junk. And many times I had to use a few together.
1. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware – There is a free version and also a full version for $25.95. This is a great tool. This by far has pretty much gotten rid of all my problems.
2. Ad-Aware – This product has been out on the market for quite some time. They have a free version which does only Malware removal, and then a few other versions you can purchase which include features such as anti-virus and support.
3. Spy Bot- Search and Destroy – This product is totally free.
4. Trend Housecall Online – This is a free online based anti-virus and anti-malware product from Trend Micro. It does a pretty good job, especially if you want to tackle viruses too.
All in all, I typically use the first product, and then try the second or third if necessary.
